Max Verstappen has committed his long term future to Red Bull, signing a new contract extension that will keep him with the Formula 1 team through to the end of the 2030 season.

The announcement extends Verstappen’s previous deal, which had been set to run until the end of 2028, and puts an end to speculation surrounding the four time World Champion’s future.

Verstappen joined Red Bull Racing in 2016 following a mid season promotion from sister team Toro Rosso, now known as Racing Bulls. Since then, the Dutchman has become one of the most successful drivers in the team’s history.

The 28 year old has recorded 71 Formula 1 victories and won four Drivers’ Championships, with his most recent title coming in 2024.

Since then, the Formula 1 landscape has shifted. McLaren claimed both championships in 2025, while Verstappen narrowly missed out on a fifth consecutive Drivers’ Championship, finishing just two points behind Lando Norris.

Red Bull have also faced a tougher challenge under Formula 1’s new regulations in 2026, dropping down the competitive order and leading to questions over Verstappen’s future beyond his previous contract.

Those questions have now been answered.

Verstappen has chosen to continue with the team he has called home for the past decade, describing Red Bull as being like a second family.

The new agreement gives Red Bull one of the biggest pieces of the Formula 1 driver market locked in for the long term as the team looks to return to the front of the grid.

The announcement comes ahead of Verstappen’s home race at Zandvoort, where the Dutch superstar will head into the weekend knowing his Formula 1 future is firmly tied to Red Bull.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull — together until at least the end of 2030.
