Australian baseball star Travis Bazzana has reached another major milestone in his remarkable rise through Major League Baseball, earning selection to the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in his rookie season with the Cleveland Guardians.
The 23 year old Sydney product was named to the American League roster as a reserve through player voting, less than three months after making his MLB debut. His selection caps off an incredible journey that has seen him go from the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft to one of baseball’s brightest young stars.
Bazzana becomes just the fourth Australian player to be selected for an MLB All-Star Game, joining the company of Dave Nilsson, Grant Balfour and Liam Hendriks. His selection is particularly impressive given it comes during his first season in the majors.
After making his debut for Cleveland on April 28, Bazzana quickly established himself as a key contributor at the top of the Guardians’ lineup. Entering the All-Star break, the Australian infielder has posted solid numbers, including seven home runs, 12 doubles and 27 RBIs while helping Cleveland remain among the American League’s top teams.
His performances have earned respect throughout the league, with fellow players, coaches and managers voting him onto the American League roster. Bazzana was selected alongside Guardians teammates Parker Messick and Cade Smith, giving Cleveland three first time All-Stars in 2026.
The achievement adds another chapter to an already historic career. Bazzana became the first Australian player ever selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the MLB Draft when Cleveland chose him in 2024. Just two years later, he has become one of the faces of Australia’s growing influence in Major League Baseball.
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will be played in Philadelphia on July 14 (July 15 Australian time), where Bazzana will have the opportunity to showcase his talent on baseball’s biggest mid-season stage.
For Australian baseball fans, it’s another proud moment as one of the nation’s brightest talents continues to make history at the highest level of the game.
