In a seismic midseason move, the San Francisco Giants have acquired All-Star slugger Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox, signaling a bold push for playoff contention. The trade, announced on June 15, 2025, involves the Giants sending left-handed starter Kyle Harrison, right-hander Jordan Hicks, outfield prospect James Tibbs III, and rookie league pitcher Jose Bello to Boston.

Under the leadership of President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey, the Giants have addressed their offensive struggles by adding Devers, a three-time All-Star known for his left-handed power. Devers is batting .272 with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs this season, bringing a much-needed boost to a lineup that has lacked consistent firepower.
