Hunter Robb has stormed back to the top of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge standings after a brilliant drive to victory in Friday’s opening race at Queensland Raceway.
Starting from fourth on the grid, Robb wasted no time making his move. A lightning fast launch saw him sweep past Lincoln Taylor, Daniel Quimby and pole sitter Hayden Haikal before the first corner, taking a lead he would never surrender.
Once out front, Robb controlled the race pace and comfortably managed a late Safety Car restart to secure his third win of the 2026 season and reclaim the championship lead.
Haikal endured a difficult start but fought back strongly, spending much of the race locked in battle with Quimby for second place. The pair’s fight reached its climax on the final lap when Haikal launched an aggressive move up the inside at Turn 3. The contact forced Quimby wide and ultimately off the circuit, ending his race just metres from the finish.
The late drama promoted Lincoln Taylor onto the podium in third for TekworkX, while former championship leader Xavier Avramides crossed the line fourth after being overtaken by Taylor in the closing stages.
Queensland local Lincoln Taylor also recorded a career-best fifth-place finish after an impressive defensive drive. He held off sustained pressure from Kobi Williams, who produced one of the standout performances of the race.
Williams started deep in the field after technical issues in qualifying left him outside the top ten and last among the Pro class competitors. Sitting 14th after the opening lap, the two time race winner steadily carved through the pack before a late Safety Car interruption. He then gained two more positions after the restart to salvage an impressive sixth place finish.
Ryan Suhle finished seventh ahead of Kamal Mrad in eighth, while Pro-Am winner Anthony Gilbertson delivered a strong drive to ninth outright. Ruari Avern rounded out the top ten.
Stephen Moylan continued his consistent Pro-Am campaign with second in class, while Tim Farrell backed up his South Australian form with another podium result in third.
Daniel Quimby and Dean Wanless were the only retirements in an otherwise action packed sprint race.
Round three of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge continues on Saturday at Queensland Raceway.
