Brodie Kostecki has kicked off the Melbourne SuperSprint in style, delivering a commanding victory in Race 4 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship at Albert Park.
Driving the Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang, Kostecki converted pole position into a start to flag win on the streets of Melbourne, overcoming illness earlier in the day to secure his first victory of the 2026 season.
From the moment the lights went out, Kostecki looked in complete control. The 2023 Supercars champion managed the race perfectly, maintaining his lead through the opening laps and navigating a mid race Safety Car to keep his rivals at bay.
The win marked a strong return to form for Kostecki at Albert Park, a circuit where he previously made headlines with breakthrough victories earlier in his career. He also set the fastest lap on the way to maximum points in the opening race of the Melbourne round.
Grove Racing driver Matt Payne continued his impressive start to the season, fighting his way past Broc Feeney early in the race to secure second place.
That result was enough for the Bathurst winner to move into the Supercars championship lead, highlighting the strong momentum Payne and the Grove Racing squad have built in the early stages of the season.
Feeney rounded out the podium in third after briefly challenging early in the race.
The race was briefly neutralised when Jackson Walls spun into the gravel, bringing out the Safety Car and bunching the field together.
However, once racing resumed, Kostecki quickly re established control at the front of the pack and never looked seriously threatened.
The Melbourne SuperSprint continues across the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix weekend, with more short format Supercars races set to shake up the championship battle.
With Payne now leading the standings and Kostecki back on the top step, the fight for the 2026 title is already beginning to take shape.
