Gold Coast Supercars: Sunday Race Summary
The streets of Surfers Paradise hosted another action packed day of Gold Coast Supercars racing on Sunday.
Local favorite Broc Feeney took a commanding victory in the final race of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
Driving for Triple Eight Race Engineering, Feeney converted pole position into a dominant win in the 85 lap encounter. He finished almost seven seconds ahead of Brodie Kostecki in second place. Chaz Mostert completed the podium in third for Gold Coast Supercars after a dramatic closing stage.
Feeney delivers in front of his home crowd
Feeney made an excellent start and quickly established control of the race. While the battle behind him continued to develop, the Queensland driver maintained his advantage to secure his first Gold Coast 500 race victory.
Kostecki finished strongly to take second, while Mostert fought his way back onto the podium after an intriguing team strategy situation involving teammate Ryan Wood.
While Feeney celebrated victory, the biggest talking point was the battle to remain in championship contention.
Anton De Pasquale secured the seventh and final position in the Supercars Finals semi final field after recovering from an early race puncture. His late escape came at the expense of Wood, who finished fourth but missed out on progressing to the next stage.
Kai Allen and Jack Le Brocq were also eliminated from championship contention, bringing their title campaigns to an end.
The late race strategy decisions and the fight for the final qualifying positions added another layer of tension to an already dramatic weekend.
The championship battle continues.
The Gold Coast round has left seven drivers fighting for the 2026 Supercars Championship, with Matthew Payne retaining the championship lead and Feeney moving into second, just four points behind.
Brodie Kostecki, Chaz Mostert, Will Brown, Cam Waters, and Anton De Pasquale complete the remaining contenders heading into the next stage.
With the field narrowed and the championship stakes rising, all eyes now turn to Sandown, where the remaining contenders will continue their fight for a place in the Adelaide Grand Final.
One thing is certain: the road to the 2026 Supercars Championship is far from settled.
