William Contreras delivers three RBIs as Milwaukee are two wins away from the World Series.
In Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers Game 2, the Brewers took a 2–0 lead in the NLCS.
They defeated the Dodgers 7–4 at American Family Field on Monday, October 12.
Milwaukee recovered from three separate deficits to secure the victory, with William Contreras delivering three hits and three RBIs in a crucial performance. The Brewers also received five scoreless innings from their bullpen, which retired the final 15 Dodgers batters in order.
The result leaves Milwaukee two wins away from advancing to the World Series, while Los Angeles heads home needing to respond in Game 3.
Contreras Leads Milwaukee’s Comeback
The Dodgers opened the scoring in the first inning when Teoscar Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home Mookie Betts.
Milwaukee responded in the bottom half, with Contreras hitting an RBI single to score Brice Turang and level the game at 1–1.
Los Angeles regained the lead in the third inning after Tommy Edman scored on a throwing error by Brewers starter Logan Henderson. However, Milwaukee answered again.
Jake Bauers worked a 12-pitch walk to load the bases. Christian Yelich delivered a two-run single to center field it put the Brewers ahead 3–2 and ended Yamamoto’s outing in Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers Game 2.
The Dodgers moved back in front during the fifth inning. Another Henderson throwing error allowed Kyle Tucker to score the tying run before Freddie Freeman’s sacrifice fly gave Los Angeles a 4–3 advantage.
Contreras then provided the answer Milwaukee needed, launching a 436-foot home run to center field off Dodgers reliever Kris Bubic to tie the game at 4–4.
The decisive moment came in the sixth inning.
David Hamilton reached base after being hit by a pitch from Brock Stewart. A throwing error on Stewart’s attempted pickoff allowed Hamilton to advance into scoring position.
After Brice Turang drew a walk, Contreras singled to left field, bringing Hamilton home and giving Milwaukee a 5–4 lead.
The Brewers added two important insurance runs in the eighth inning. Turang drove in a run with a single before Jake Bauers followed with another RBI single, extending the advantage to 7–4.
Milwaukee finished the game with 12 hits, with Contreras at the center of the offensive effort.
Brewers Bullpen Closes the Door
Milwaukee’s relief pitchers played a decisive role after Henderson exited following four innings.
Dustin May, JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby combined to retire all 15 Dodgers batters they faced, preventing Los Angeles from mounting another comeback.
Romero earned the win after pitching a scoreless sixth inning, while Ashby recorded the save with 1⅔ scoreless innings to finish the game.
The Dodgers were limited to three hits and did not record a run driven in by a base hit. Their four runs came through sacrifice flies and two runs that scored following Henderson’s throwing errors.
Yamamoto, meanwhile, lasted just 2⅔ innings, allowing three runs on four hits. It was the shortest postseason start of his career.

The series moves to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday, October 14. The Dodgers will look to get back into contention on home ground, with Blake Snell scheduled to start.
Milwaukee, meanwhile, will aim to maintain its momentum after combining timely hitting, aggressive base-running and dominant relief pitching to secure another postseason victory.
The Brewers are now two wins away from the World Series, but the series remains unfinished, with Los Angeles having the opportunity to respond in front of its home crowd.
