Harri Jones has moved into a share of third place on the all time Porsche Carrera Cup Australia wins list after claiming his 31st career victory at The Bend Motorsport Park.
Jones produced a dominant performance in the opening race of Round 4 of the Porsche Equity One Carrera Cup Australia, securing his fifth victory of the 2026 season.
Starting from second on the grid, Jones made an immediate move around the outside at Turn 1 to take the lead.
From there, he controlled the race and built a three second advantage before a safety car was called midway through the event after Pro Am championship leader Jacques Jarrod spun at Turn 5 and was unable to restart his car.
David Russell put the pressure on Jones at the restart, attempting a move into Turn 1, but Jones held firm and quickly rebuilt his advantage.
He eventually crossed the line 2.8 seconds clear of Russell, with Aaron Love completing the overall podium.
The victory also has significant historical importance, with Jones’ 31st Carrera Cup win moving him level with Australian motorsport legend Jim Richards for third on the championship’s all time race win list.
The result was also valuable in the 2026 championship battle. Jones’ rival Clay Osborne was forced into pit lane at the end of the opening lap after suffering damage in a collision.
Tom Bewley finished fourth after starting from pole, having edged Jones by just 0.0037 seconds in qualifying the third closest pole margin in Carrera Cup history.
Lachlan Bloxsom finished fifth, followed by Glen Wood, Diesel Thomas, Marco Giltrap, Marcos Flack and Angelo Mouzouris to complete the top 10.
In the Pro Am class, Rodney Jane claimed his first victory of the season, finishing 1.9 seconds ahead of Matt Slavin. Andrew Georgiadis completed the class podium.
The final Carrera Cup race of the weekend will be held on Sunday, with the 45-minute race scheduled to get underway at 12:15pm ACST.
