The Cleveland Guardians completed a dramatic doubleheader sweep of the Detroit Tigers on Friday, winning both games with walk off hits.
In Game 1, Brayan Rocchio delivered a walk-off solo home run in the ninth inning to give Cleveland a 7-6 victory. The Guardians had rallied from a five-run deficit to set up the late-game finish.
The nightcap was Travis Bazzana’s moment. The Australian rookie hit a two run home run in the eighth inning to tie the game before coming through again in the 10th.
Bazzana’s walk off RBI single scored Rocchio and gave Cleveland a 4-3 victory, completing a memorable doubleheader sweep.
The Guardians became the first team to win both games of a doubleheader with walk off victories since 1984, while Bazzana continues to make an impact during his rookie season.
