Australia have bounced back from their shock defeat in Darwin, crushing Bangladesh by an innings and 51 runs in the second Test in Mackay.
The match was wrapped up inside two days, with Mitchell Starc producing a devastating 10-wicket performance to lead Australia’s response.
Starc finished with match figures of 10-51, including 6-12 in Bangladesh’s first innings, as the visitors were dismissed for just 64. Australia replied with 210, with Cameron Green top scoring with 67 to give the hosts a 146 run lead.
Bangladesh needed a much stronger showing in their second innings but again struggled against Australia’s attack, bowled out for 95. Starc added four more wickets, while Pat Cummins took 3-10 and Nathan Lyon claimed the final two wickets as Australia sealed the emphatic victory.
The result levelled the two Test series at 1-1, after Bangladesh’s historic nine wicket win in the opening Test in Darwin.
For Starc, it was his fourth 10-wicket match haul in Test cricket, capping off a dominant individual performance in Australia’s series saving victory.
Australia’s next test cricket series is a three-match away tour against South Africa in September and October 2026.
